Cause Camp 2011

Description: 
Every year, the Lincoln AMA presents Cause Camp--an intensive best-practices training for marketers of non-profit causes. This low-cost event is one of the ways Lincoln AMA gives back to our community. Educating those charged with marketing their non-profit benefits the entire community by enabling our local organization to create community engagement, recruit volunteers and raise funds.

Connect the dots in your marketing plan
Fundraising. Event planning. Public awareness. Social networking. Advocacy. They’re all part of your marketing plan, but they don’t really work together the way they should. At this year’s Cause Camp, you’ll learn to connect the marketing dots and bring every facet of your marketing plan into one cohesive, effective strategy.
- Learn what’s new in non-profit marketing
- Participate in practical sessions that will help you save money and time
- Step back and take a larger view of your organization’s marketing needs
- Network with other non-profit marketers as well as valuable business partners
Scholarships are available. If you would like to be considered for a need-based scholarship, submit a 100-word statement to Clover Frederick at clover@nmn-online.org by January 15. Scholarship recipients will be notified by January 21. There is a limited number available. If you are registering for Cause Camp and are also applying for the scholarship, please choose the “pay at the door” option.

Level A: Event Marketing: A Case Study – Tre Brashear, co-founder of the MAHA Music Festival
In its second year, the 2010 MAHA Music Festival needed a big turnout in order to keep it going. Thanks to Tre Brashear, that's just what happened. Tre will walk through the marketing, public relations and social media strategy that made his nonprofit event such a success. Try these lessons for your organization’s big events.
Level B: Using Online Tools for Building Change – Kate Bolz, MSW, Research & Policy Coordinator, Nebraska Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest
This presentation will provide an overview of tools, strategies and resources for nonprofit organizations to utilize in building support and motivating people to action. It will include successful examples from Nebraska Appleseed’s work using its webpage, Facebook and e-mail.

Level A: Design Smart: Get the Most Out of Your Print Budget – Matt Gohring and Michael Rudolf, Graphic Designers, A to Z Printing
Sometimes reducing your print costs is as simple as a few design changes. Learn ways of keeping cost down when designing for print. Find out how developing a relationship with your printer and asking the right questions can save money on print production.
Level B: Research, Relationships, and Readiness –Preparing for a Capital Campaign - Scott Larson, CFRE, Associate, Paul J. Strawhecker, Inc.
This presentation will highlight the important aspects of pre-campaign research, developing a solid brand and building relationships before embarking on a capital campaign. You’ll have an opportunity to share challenges and successes, as well as learn some practical applications to use for your organizations.

The New and the Practical: Turning Social Media into Action – John Haydon, owner of Inbound Zombie, a social media strategy firm for nonprofits in Cambridge, MA
Find out what's next in social media and how it's changing the game when it comes to nonprofit fundraising and engagement. Cut through the high-level rhetoric and get real-life, do-them-now actions your organization can start using immediately to improve your social media presence. John Haydon has spent 15 years helping nonprofits like yours increase awareness, amplify engagement and get more donations online.

1- 2 p.m. Session III: Roundtables
The day’s speakers and gold-level partners host roundtable discussions on their area of expertise. Stay at a table for 12 minutes, then move to a different table to learn from a different specialist.
