December Luncheon: Prism Winner Pecha Kucha
December 8, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m.
Location: Embassy Suites, Downtown Lincoln
Description: Learn from local marketing masters in a series of short presentations. This pecha kucha (puh-CHA kuh-CHA) style format will feature winners from the 2011 Lincoln AMA Prism awards. They'll share the secrets of their winning campaigns and give you actionable ideas to take back to your organization.
It's fun. It's fast. It's a great chance to learn and network with the Lincoln marketing community.
SPEAKERS:
Derek Peterson, Account Executive
Bailey Lauerman
In a declining market, Cessna Aircraft Company, the leading designer and manufacturer of business jets, utility turboprops and single engine aircraft, was ready to announce the addition of a new aircraft to their fleet. But given that this was perhaps not the best time in the company’s history to be launching what would be the crown jewel of their lineup, a lot was on the line.
Derek Peterson is an account executive at Bailey Lauerman. Going on his fifth year with the agency, he currently manages work for clients Cessna, Cargill, Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Bailey Lauerman supports some of America's leading brands and companies, including Bass Pro Shops, ConAgra Foods, Disney, Pepsi, TD Ameritrade and Union Pacific.
Before joining Bailey Lauerman, Derek worked with the Kansas City Royals in their marketing department during their (according to him) painstakingly underwhelming 2007 season. Prior to that, he graduated with highest distinction and perfect attendance from the Honors Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
When he’s not working on brand strategy and managing his client work, Derek enjoys all things sports, most types of ice cream and proudly admits to liking pop music.
Nia Nielsen, Marketing Specialist
Nebraska Children and Families Foundation
We live in a state where more than one-third of our infants and toddlers are considered at risk and live in conditions that are not conducive to early learning. Find out how Nebraska Children and Families Foundation developed a website and online tools to influence policy at a statewide level to help educate senators and others about how changes in current policies can have a large impact on children and their families in Nebraska.
As a Marketing Specialist Nia develops strategies for Nebraska Children and Families Foundation's websites and social media presence. When she's not brushing up on the latest technology and figuring our how to blend the latest trends into the organizations' current marketing strategies, you can find her hanging out with her husband Luke, and three little girls: Neve, Bella and Mila.
Kiley Thiele, PCM, Vice President of Development & Marketing
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska
Examine a non-profit fundraiser that increased its income to expense ratio by 20%. As a partnership between Make-A-Wish and Husker football, an exclusive night with the coaches helps raise funds to grant over half the wishes in the Lincoln region.
Kiley oversees the fundraising and marketing programs for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska, where she has worked since 2008. Through providing hope, strength, and joy to the families they serve, Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions. From events to major gifts to communications, her job function is to increase the Foundation’s brand image and raise funds to make dreams come true. She earned her PCM designation in 2002 and has been a member of AMA since undergrad.
